My Journey Into Healing Work

JODI SHIELDS
CAMTC Certified Massage Therapist
& Registered Yoga Teacher
Rooted in Napa Valley since 2012

I didn't find this work early or easily. For years, I did what I thought success was supposed to look like: customer service, account and project management. I was promoted, relocated, promoted again. And I was quietly miserable.

The shift came when my best friend announced she was going back to school. Watching her do that brave thing cracked something open in me. Literally the next day, a commercial for a local massage school came on TV. Something clicked. I called. I figured out how to make it work. And I fell completely in love, with the anatomy, the science of the body, the way everything connects. I had no idea that was what had been missing.

That was almost 20 years ago. Since then I've built a practice rooted in two specialties I find endlessly fascinating and effective: the Hendrickson Method, a gentle, rhythmic orthopedic approach that relieves chronic pain and restores ease of movement, and Myofascial Release Therapy, which works at the level of the connective tissue to create lasting, whole-body relief.

Yoga entered the picture in 2014. After years of practicing intermittently, I participated in a beginner's series that helped yoga finally make sense to me. It deepened my understanding of how healing actually happens, not just in the body, but in the nervous system, the breath, and the quiet spaces in between. That spark carried me through 500 hours of teacher training over the years, including certification through The Little Yogi Room and the Jason Crandell Yoga Method.

I'm also someone who still does this work on myself. I know firsthand what it means to need restoration, not as a concept, but as a lifeline.

That's what I bring to every session and every class: genuine curiosity about the body's capacity to heal, nearly two decades of training, and the lived understanding that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is finally take care of yourself.

My goal as your teacher and therapist is simple: to provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing space where you can explore your own path to strength, balance, and peace, wherever that path leads.

I'm glad you're here.
